Providensia Allah dalam Tantangan Judi Online: Respons Teologis terhadap Krisis Iman Kristen

The increasingly widespread phenomenon of online gambling in the digital age presents a serious challenge to the understanding of Christian faith, particularly regarding the doctrines of providence and God's sovereignty. Using qualitative methods through literature study and theological analysis, this study raises the claim that winning in gambling is part of God's sovereignty and critiques the narrow view that separates winning and losing within the framework of providence. This study aims to theologically examine how online gambling practices contradict Christian work ethics and deny the fundamental principle of God's providence. The findings indicate that online gambling is not simply a moral issue, but a theological deviation that undermines the meaning of divine calling and human responsibility. Gambling makes money and wealth the center of life's hopes, replacing hard work and discipline, and leading to dependency and financial ruin, especially for the younger generation. This study affirms that God's providence is relational, not fatalistic. God remains sovereign, but His involvement in history respects human freedom and demands moral accountability. Choices remain within the scope of providence, but they carry ethical consequences that cannot be ignored.
Abstrak
Fenomena judi online yang kian marak di era digital menghadirkan tantangan serius terhadap pemahaman iman Kristen, khususnya terkait doktrin providensia dan kedaulatan Allah. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif melalui studi literatur dan analisis teologis, penelitian ini mengevaluasi klaim bahwa kemenangan dalam perjudian adalah bagian dari kedaulatan Allah, serta mengkritisi pandangan sempit yang memisahkan antara kemenangan dan kekalahan dalam kerangka providensia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji secara teologis bagaimana praktik judi online bertentangan dengan etika kerja Kristen dan mengingkari prinsip dasar providensia Allah. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa judi online bukan sekadar persoalan moral, melainkan penyimpangan teologis yang mengaburkan makna panggilan ilahi dan tanggung jawab manusia. Judi menjadikan uang dan keberuntungan sebagai pusat harapan hidup, menggantikan kerja keras dan disiplin, serta menyebabkan ketergantungan dan kehancuran finansial, khususnya bagi generasi muda. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa providensia Allah bersifat relasional, bukan fatalistik. Allah tetap berdaulat, namun keterlibatan-Nya dalam sejarah menghargai kebebasan manusia dan menuntut akuntabilitas moral. Pilihan berjudi tetap berada dalam cakupan providensia, tetapi membawa konsekuensi etis yang tidak bisa diabaikan.
